Historical Significance: These earrings are inspired by coins from the Nuestra Señora de Atocha, a Spanish galleon lost in 1622 off the Florida Keys. The ship, which was caught in a fierce hurricane, was carrying over 160,000 precious “pieces of eight” among its treasures. When the wreck was rediscovered, it revealed a trove of historic coins.
